About Will Porter
Arizona native, Will Porter has been practicing Law in North Texas since 2011. After graduating from Arizona State University, with a B.S. in history, Will moved to Texas in 2007, and has been here ever since. A graduate of the South Texas College of Law, Houston’s 2010 class, Will also spent 3 years interning at the Harris County District Attorney’s office. Prior to forming Smith, Arnold, Porter, & Ibarra, PLLC, Will spent 13 years as a prosecutor at the Fannin County District Attorney’s office. Will started in the County Court at Law handing misdemeanors and began taking on juvenile cases and protective orders. Will eventually moved to the 336th District Court, trying felonies, but also able to work with the community was a member of the Fannin County Mental Health Court and the North Texas Veterans court. While in Fannin County, Will handled a little bit of everything, from Class C traffic tickets to complex felonies involving child victims, violent actions, or loss of life.
A move from the prosecutor’s table to the defense table in 2024 has given Will the opportunity to put his skills, experience and perspective to work protecting his client’s rights and good name. He also brings that knowledge to family law cases as well. Now, at Smith, Arnold, Porter, & Ibarra, P.L.L.C, Will handles criminal and family law cases. Will philosophy is that the law should tempered with a humanistic outlook. “I recognize that many who employ us, are having a bad day. Lawyers, Judges, Prosecutors, Justice, Divorce…, just being the Courthouse itself, it is all very intimidating. We should work to help people get through these processes, so they feel confident and comfortable, knowing they have an excellent and attentive advocate by their side.”
